owned by the Middletown Area School District. WMSS Broadcasts on 91.1MHz, FM, and has an output power of 1350 Watts, more than many college radio stations! We are owned and operated by the Middletown Area School District. Students in the Middle School (grades 7 through 8) may join the Radio Club. At the High School level, radio becomes a credit course that meets outside regular school hours. Our staff directory lists our current student managers and directors. What can you expect to hear when you tune in to WMSS? That is a difficult question to answer. If you tune in during a weekday during the school year, you could hear just about any kind of music from Jimmy Buffet to Jim Morrison and anything and everything in between. In the evenings (after 3), WMSS plays mostly alternative style music. The students on the air get to choose what they want to play during their air shifts. While there are guidelines concerning inappropriate content, the students in the program are free to choose from the large library of music at WMSS, and they supplement what the station has with music from their own CD and tape collections. Mixed in with all of this are various pre-recorded shows and live sports events. On Sundays, WMSS carries a number of local church services, some of them are broadcast live. Our program schedule offers more information.

Kick off at 4pm November 29th and continue for 2 weeks through the end of live programming (3am) on Sunday December 12th. The goal for this year?s 2 week drive is to raise $15,000 in listener support to sustain operating expenses throughout the coming year. Meeting this goal will keep WESU on track to raise $30,000 in community support before the end of the fiscal year in July. During its 71st Anniversary year, WESU recently completed the 3 year project of quadrupling its broadcasting power from 1,500 to 6,000 watts (ERP). This upgrade has nearly doubled WESU?s potential listening audience from roughly 500,000 to 1,000,000 people throughout CT and Southern MA. In an event commemorating this upgrade, Middletown Mayor Sebastian Giuliano issued a proclamation declaring that November 8, 2010 would henceforth be celebrated as ?WESU Day?! Financial support during this pledge drive will help ensure that WESU continues to grow and operate as a creative vehicle for partnership between the Wesleyan University community, the people of the greater Connecticut River Valley, and beyond. Donations will directly benefit WESU and help to ensure local, community-based programs and alternative news and music continue to have a home on the radio dial. Weekdays, WESU boasts a diverse schedule offering a robust program of News and Public Affairs by day drawing from NPR, Pacifica, independent, and local sources. Week Nights and Weekends WESU broadcast a diverse range of ?free form? music and creative programming that includes Jazz, Soul, Blues, Rock, Caribbean, Hip Hop, Experimental, Electronic, Gospel, Oldies, Latin music, and much more. ------ Shows: Car Talk (NPR), NPR's Morning Edition, Talk of the Nation, Talk of the Nation Science Friday, The Diane Rehm Show, Weekend Edition Saturday, Weekend Edition Sunday, Making Contact, Democracy Now!, Free Speech Radio News, Alternative Radio, Between the Lines ----- Hosts: Tom Magliozzi, Ray Magliozzi, Renee Montagne, Steve Inskeep, Neal Conan, Ira Flatow, Annette Heist, Charles Bergquist, Diane Rehm, Scott Simon, Audie Cornish
